There was a time when truth was respected, modesty was valued, and people feared Allah even in private. Today, we are living in a world where wrong is being normalized, sins are being celebrated, and people are slowly forgetting the purpose of life.
Every day, we witness oppression against Muslims in different parts of the world.
There are lands where the cries of mothers have become more common than laughter, where children do not sleep peacefully, and where even newborn babies are not given the chance to truly live before they are returned to the earth. Tiny graves are being dug while the world watches silently. Homes are destroyed, families are separated, and innocent blood is shed openly, while those responsible continue without fear.
For a heart that still feels, these images are unbearable. They remind us how heavy this world has become and how desperately humanity has moved away from justice, mercy, and the fear of Allah. Innocent people are losing their homes, their families, and their lives. Their cries are ignored, their pain is hidden, and their suffering is often treated as if it means nothing. The Ummah is wounded, yet many of us are too distracted by worldly matters to even notice.
At the same time, the signs of Qayamat seem more visible than ever before.
Allah warns us in the Quran:
“Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of what they have done that perhaps they will return .” (Surah Ar-Rum 30:41)
This corruption is not only in wars and ظلم, but also in hearts, in intentions, in homes, and in society. Backbiting has become normal. Lying spreads faster than truth. Zina is no longer hidden; rather, it is openly promoted and glorified. People are proud of sins that they should be ashamed of. Modesty is disappearing. Respect for parents is decreasing. Hearts are becoming harder.
The truthful person is often mocked, while the liar is celebrated.
Allah says:
“And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know .” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:42)
Yet today, falsehood is often promoted while truth is silenced. The one who fears Allah is called “old-fashioned,” while the one who openly disobeys Allah is admired. We are living in a time where darkness is being shown as light, and light is being treated as darkness.
Allah has already warned us in the Quran that this world is temporary. No matter how much wealth, fame, beauty, or status a person has, one day every soul will return to Allah. The grave will not ask us how many followers we had, how famous we were, or how much money we earned. It will ask about our deeds, our prayers, our honesty, our patience, and our relationship with Allah.
Qayamat may be closer than we think.
Allah says:
“The Hour has come near, and the moon has split .” (Surah Al-Qamar 54:1)
And Allah also reminds us:
“Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.” (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:57)
Death does not come with a warning. Death does not come with a warning. We often live as if we have years ahead of us, but the truth is that nobody knows whether they will see tomorrow.
This is why we must hold firmly onto our deen.
Allah says:
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:103)
We must protect our salah, recite the Quran, avoid sins, stay away from backbiting, and make sincere tawbah. We should not let this world distract us so much that we forget the akhirah.
At the end, we will leave everything behind. Our clothes, our phones, our money, our popularity, and our worldly achievements will stay here. The only thing that will go with us to the grave is our amaal; our deeds
So before it is too late, we should ask ourselves:
Where are we going?
Are we truly on the right path? Are we holding firmly onto our deen, or are we letting this dunya slowly pull us away from Allah? In a world full of distractions, sins, and falsehood, we must ask ourselves whether we are living for temporary pleasures or preparing for the akhirah.
The real shame will not be what people think of us in this dunya. The real shame will be standing before Allah with sins that were never repented for and hearts that were never purified. Even if we hide things from people, from our parents, from friends, can we hide anything from Allah? Never. He sees every tear, every secret, every sin, and every intention hidden inside our hearts. That is why before it is too late, we should return to Allah with sincere tawbah and ask for His mercy.
